Long-distance move from Tofield, AB to Mont-Joli, QC

Efficient Move

Past a week, I moved across the city and was so impressed by Buhler's Moving efficiency and professionalism. They packed up my entire apartment in no time, taking extra care with fragile items like glassware and artwork. What really stood out was how organized and communicative they were throughout the process. I was nervous about the tight schedule, but they delivered everything on time, and nothing was damaged. I’d definitely use their service again!

Mr Buhler

I previously met Mr Buhler through my line of work- Once I found out he owned/operated a moving company, I hired him for the following month back in August, to assist me with moving me and my three sons. Ron was nothing other than accommodating in making sure that everything was as smooth as possible for me in that stressful time I encountered. Sometimes its about more than hiring a company it’s the building of a professional relation and mutual respect.

DO NOT hire this moving company.

DO NOT HIRE this company. I made that mistake in June 2014. I provided my deposit and signed a supposedly insured contract. The first warning was when his staff showed up to pick up in Calgary a day late. I flew to Halifax hopeful that my belongings would arrive within two weeks. The movers never showed. I discovered my belongings had been placed by Buhler's movers on a semi-trailer hauling drugs including heroin. CBSA, ALERT & RCMP arrested two movers in Edmonton, discovering $9 million in drugs. Those two movers had been in my condo, handling my stuff. Everything I owned was on that truck. Instead of an apology or assistance, I received angry denials from Buhler. I had to track down my belongings at a Toronto warehouse and hired another company to deliver to Halifax, though much was damaged upon arrival. I pursued legal action in hopes of resolving this financial, emotional nightmare. I won the small claims case and two appeals. Four years on, I have yet to receive a single cent legally owed, nor an apology.

Long-distance move from British Columbia to Alberta

Move from BC to AB.

We only went with Buhler's because they are cheap. Dealing with the owner, Ron, was such a headache as he is dishonest and has very poor communication skills. We moved from BC to AB and we were first assured that our belongings would be picked up on April 24, stored for us, and moved to AB for May 1st move-in date. We were informed of a truck breakdown and told that our things would not be picked up until April 30, so we had to make other arrangements for the movers to pick up our things, which we were fine with. However, we were in Banff on May 1, but we drove out to Calgary to meet the movers and let them in. They never arrived. After finally getting through to the office, we learned that our things would be a WEEK LATE. No one had contacted us to tell us this, and we wasted time and gas money driving from Banff to Calgary to meet these people. The lady in the office had no power but she gave us Ron's cell number to try to come to a fair solution. All of our things were with the movers, and we had to buy new items to satisfy our basic needs to survive for the next week (ie: an air mattress, bedding, cooking supplies, etc). When we finally got ahold of Ron, he had the audacity to yell at us over the phone. Yes, this business owner thinks it's appropriate to yell at his paying customers when everything is clearly his fault.    Long story short - if you use Buhler's, you will learn that:    1. Ron is an awful person to deal with, and he will yell at YOU (even if you are a reasonable person who just wants to come to an amicable solution).  2. He will not communicate ANYTHING with you. He will not respond to any emails or voicemails, and you will be left wondering where EVERYTHING you OWN is and what you need to do to in order to get your belongings.  3. Your belongings might arrive late - ours were a week late and we needed to waste money buying things we didn't need just to survive the week we hadn't planned for. Ron gave us twelve different excuses and none of these stories seemed to add up with what the receptionist in the office had told us. He also got very agitated each time we wanted to know what was going on.  4. The movers might break at least one piece of your furniture. They broke a standing wardrobe and just left it in BC.    Save yourself the headache and pay the extra $500.00 for a reliable company.      * As a side note, I would like to say that Aftab is a great employee of this company, and he deserves better. He was one of the movers that delivered our belongings, and he was very kind, reasonable and professional. Ron tried to overcharge me by $30, and when I explained everything to Aftab, he reduced the price and I paid what was agreed upon. He also gave us a free couch and chair for our trouble.    If my review didn't convince you to stay away, maybe this article will: http://metronews.ca/news/halifax/1091432/reporter-relieved-to-have-belongings-back-after-drug-bust-but-some-damage-found/.

Thank you Warren + Donovan @ Buhlers.

Local move within Alberta
5 stars for Warren + Donovan who showed up on time, delivered Herculian effort from morning to late afternoon non-stop. They were super careful with all items big and small (with zero complaints about a few 'heavy, awkward' pieces). The fragile items were carefully wrapped and they had no issue trouble shooting stairs and corners (or elevators!)..all with good humour. Zero complaints. Full endorsement. Thank you!!

Moving and Storage.

Very pleased with the movers. We moved out of our home mid Dec and the guys busted their butts moving our stuff. They were very respectful of our home so no wall damage. They laid down runners on the floor prior to moving. Once our new condo was finally ready for occupancy, the movers (Warren and John) did a great job of unloading our furniture and belongings. We had the boxes marked where we wanted things to go and they put them in the appropriate rooms. They set up our bed at my request. The guys were quick and efficient. I originally contacted Ron in Nov. I found the best way to communicate with him was via text. Ron was accommodating with our needs. Our furniture was placed in storage although I was somewhat taken back when I discovered our goods stored in a locked trailer instead of a secure compound. The office staff can appear to be disorganized at times. When I called to set up our second move date, I was informed that I owed for a couple months storage fees. I informed the office that I didn't owe back fees and had the e-transfers to prove it. Other than confirming the move a couple of extra times, I was pleased with the service we received. I would consider Buhlers Moving again. We paid a flat fee instead of hourly.

Super shady and unethical!

Ron is sleazy and unethical. I had him come in and give me a quote and when he quoted me, he was the highest quote from all of the quotes that I had. He came at the same time that another quote was coming and I asked him not to talk to the other person to ensure that there was no collusion going on. The first thing he does when he gets outside is go talk to the other person. I wasn't happy with that.

Anyways, he calls me a week later or so and I tell him that I won't be using him. Thought that would be the last I hear from Ron, but then I get a call last week and someone (he made it sound like he wasn't Ron and someone else in the industry) is asking about my quotes and said that he heard that a couple places quoted me at 12,000 lbs and 7,000 lbs (which is what they both came in at). I was confused as why he knew those numbers, but at any rate I explained that those numbers might change as we were getting rid of a lot of things. I told him that I was out of town, but I already selected my mover and that the mover I selected was coming on a Thursday to give me a new estimate based on everything I was getting rid of.

Next thing you know, I'm getting a call from my wife saying that someone came to my house (being very persistent and aggressive) telling her that I told them to come for a new estimate. I spoke to him on the phone and told him that we had selected our mover already and that this wasn't acceptable. When we got off the phone, my wife told me he was upset and saying "I don't know what his problem is, why doesn't he want to save some money?!"

Anyways, dirty tactics, and super shady. STAY AWAY FROM THIS GUY!

Long-distance move from Kelowna, BC to Calgary, AB

Horrible company.

Ron Buhler is a crook and an extortionist. He quoted $1500 and one month free storage in Calgary. He then played on my ex and me for more money. He wrote and changed the contract to suit his needs (white out and all). He threatened to keep all of my belongings and take it to auction. I called the police. They advised pay now, sue later. This was the worst experience ever! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, HE CAN'T BE TRUSTED. Please read all of the reviews. I wish I did before choosing this loser.

Bad movers - Buhlers Moving & Storage.

Buhlers did not do as quoted. We were told that our goods would stay on their truck, stored until ready for the move. Our contents were transferred to another truck, unknown to us at the time. Upon arrival to our new address,we found out that they did not bring their crew from Calgary but hired local labors to unpack. There was much damage done. As well, items went missing. Ron from Buhlers only pays for damages by the pound. Our damages were to items that were not heavy but costly.
Certainly do not get what is promised.
Would NEVER recommend this company unless you want headaches!

Irresponsible and Dishonest.

Ron, who runs this company, comes off as a very friendly guy, but he's a terrible person to give business to. Firstly, they do not pack your items safely like they say they do on their website. They don't do any packing AT ALL. They broke a beautiful painting and a shelf without having mentioned anything to me before it had already arrived at the new location. Actually, the broken items didn't even arrive at the new location - they threw it away without telling me. When I asked Ron about what happened, he told me, "It's too bad, you should have packaged it." and "Well, you should have bought insurance" (which they never even suggested to me prior to the transaction). How about that? According to his website, "customized crating of pictures, glass, and marble" is included in his services. I read it out-loud to him on the phone. He then told me that these are a special-order service, and they must be requested prior to the loading date. Yeah, right. Even after proving him a dishonest man, Ron refuses to compensate for the painting that his company destroyed trashed. Heck, if you're going to swipe my painting, at least sell it for some cash. Don't just dump it, that's just mean. He insists that it isn't his responsibility to make sure his customers get what they paid for - a COMPLETE QUALITY SERVICE. What Ron is suggesting is that he is SOLELY responsible for the transportation of your items, because he doesn't give a [EDIT] about the quality of his service or making you happy with his work. How's that for a mission statement? I am very unhappy with this company. I checked "poor" for each Customer Service criteria NOT because I dislike them, but because I sincerely believe they did everything very poorly. Stay away from this company.

Also, they will run their shoes on your carpet, they will not provide any of the packing services listed on their website, they don't come prepared with disassembling tools, they will not properly reassemble your pieces upon delivery, they will damage your belongings, and worst of all: they will be dishonest to you.
